About me

Hi! I am Berthil van de Brake, a freelance Business Intelligence consultant from the Netherlands. I have been working as a BI consultant at Transport Cost Consult since 2019 and started my own company in 2025. I have been helping logistic companies gain insights into their business performance. Working in logistics is a daily puzzle for my customers to get the goods at the right place at the right time. There is a lot of data recorded that can measure business performance but this data is recorded in several IT systems that dont show a complete picture.

That is where I come in. I help logistic companies with the following things:

  • Determine which metrics are important
  • Implement a data pipeline that extracts, transforms & loads data
  • I help them improve data quality
  • I help analysing the metrics shown

I have experience in developing in Qlik, which uses a coding language with syntax similar to SQL. I have implemented several ETL BI solutions across different database sources. I have experience in solving complex datamodel issues to combine useful data and give the end user the key metrics they are searching for.

To broaden my skills I have been investigating using AI to increase my productivity. I am investigating how to use AI to find answers to business questions in a faster and easier way. I sucessfully finished my AI engineer course at Data Lumina to kickstart this journey. The stack I have been using is Python, Docker for databases, OpenAI & Claude for LLM calls and Cursor to program in.

How quickly can you start working on my project?

I can typically begin new projects within 1-2 weeks of contract signing. For urgent matters, I maintain some flexibility for rapid response situations and can potentially start sooner - just let me know your timeline during our initial consultation.

Do you require a minimum project size or commitment?

At the moment I can accommodate projects up to 16 hours a week, due to my current obligations. The mininum to start working together is at least 1 workday to allow for meaningful impact. This gives me enough time to understand your data, implement solutions, and deliver actionable results. We can start with a small pilot project to ensure we're a good fit.

What industries do you have experience in?

I've successfully delivered projects across the following sectors: transport, warehousing, hotel & restaurant industry. I have specialized in calculating profitability in logistics.

How do you handle data security and confidentiality?

I take data security extremely seriously. I sign comprehensive NDAs before starting any project, use enterprise-grade encryption for all data transfers, and follow industry best practices for data handling. I can also work within your existing security infrastructure and policies.

What's your pricing structure?

I offer both project-based and hour-based pricing models. Project fees are based on scope, complexity, and value delivered rather than hours worked. For ongoing support, I offer the hour-based model. Let's discuss your specific needs during our consultation to determine the most cost-effective approach.

How do you communicate progress and results?

I maintain clear communication through weekly progress updates and regular check-in meetings. You'll receive detailed documentation of all analyses, findings, and recommendations. When we start working together you will recieve my contact details where you can reach me. I strive to communicate within 48 hours of the question.
